Pretty Feet
6 June 2008
Peanut loves mama's new shows. He walks v well in them. He likes to play with my string of pearls too .. though he doesn't wear it .. he drags it along and calls it his choo choo train. When he was younger, he used to carry my handbag around the house. Sweet Potato is now into playing with my wallet just like what kor kor used to do. They are just so fascinated by how they can keep pulling out notes, pieces of paper (receipts), cards, not to mention emptying the coins compartment. It's amazing that I have not lost anything yet ...

Goodbye ...
13 June 2008

Today is Peanut's last day at his first school. The school fell victim to the enbloc fever and had to move to new premises much further away. We, the parents, are sadder than him .. still remembered all the excitement when we prepared for his first day at playschool 13 months ago.
It has been real fun. Reading all his progress reports of his activities, enjoying his art & craft work, organising for his bd party, attending concert. Of course, it was not always fun - coping with the separation anxiety in the inital 1 month was truly traumatic for me (pregnant with all my hormones in ... shall I say a heightened state), then there was all the coaxing on some mornings when he just didn't feel like school.
Here are extracts of entries in Peanut's notebook (for me to communicate with the teachers) a year ago:
29 May "I understand that u're very concerned with (Peanut's) unable to fully settled yet at the centre during arrival time. Not to worry, this is normal especially when (Peanut) only comes in 3 days a week ..." (Yes, the English could be better ... )
"Thanks for the note and assurance. Yes, the separation anxiety is rather disturbing but will continue to work at it ... mummy" ("Disturbing" was an understatement ...this note came about because I actually broke down one morning when Peanut was clinging onto me, crying his heart out as if I was abandoning him ...)
14 June "We can see that (Peanut) is easing into the routine and copes better with the separation anxiety. His crying is less distressful and he no longer resents wearing his school uniform in the mornings ..."
Anyway, here are some of the stuff he learnt at Sunflower BabyHouse:
And some of his art & craft work treasured and kept by mama:

Peeping Potato
Sweet Potato loves to peep through holes. He would shove whatever-he-can-lay-his-hand-on under the sofa and then peep at them. Once, I saw him putting his face to the floor to peep through the gap at the bottom of the front door. And his favourite book - amongst the many different interesting/colourful baby books with pops out, flaps, textured pages, puzzles, hidden animals - is none other than the one with a big hole on its cover. Need I say more ...

Missing Mum
This is one of my current favourites. Most of the time, S.P only gets to play on/with the bike when Peanut is at school or taking his afternoon nap. S.P is really good with it, he holds and swings the handles like a pro. Best of all, after accomplishing that, he'd look at me in the eyes with a beaming "I've done it" smile. He definitely doesn't take after me when it comes to motor skills.
Much that I enjoy my uninterrupted sleep - have been in the US on a biz trip since Sunday - I NEED to be home with my babies. Are they missing me as much as I miss them? I doubt. It's pretty much out of sight, out of mind at this age. But over the phone, Peanut did say he missed me. Will they run (crawl for S.P) to hug and kiss me? I hope so.
